Mark Webber says he is looking forward to getting to grips with the ‘sensational’ new Austin track in the inaugural US Grand Prix this weekend.
But he is warning the first corner could claim a number of crash victims on Sunday.
He said: “On paper the track looks sensational. It’s very undulating and long, and it looks like there are some challenging corners.
“However, Turn 1 is still a bit of a question mark. The approach is steep uphill and the corner itself closes back on itself.
“When you consider our eye line, it makes the corner incredibly blind and that’s going to encourage crashes when we’re racing wheel-to-wheel.
“From what I’ve been told, Austin is pretty pumped about the race. I really hope it is a success because F1 needs a good home on that side of the pond.”
