THAME men’s first team had a convincing 5-1 away win over Phoenix and Ranelagh.
Jaypee Wentzel broke the deadlock with a fine strike after good work from Chris Humphrey.
It was a tight game with the home side’s fast front line posing a threat but the defence of James Rudolph and MAN OF THE MATCH Nick Moore did well to contain them.
Just before half-time Gareth Birkett converted a pull back from Moore to double the lead after an unselfish pass from Tim Trailor.
After the break some great saves by Andy Sykes in goal ensured Thame maintained their lead while Birkett showed quick-thinking and improvisation to score a nice reverse.
Will Sawrey-Cookson made it 4-0 before the home side scored a scrappy consolation.
Late on Mark Brooks did well to round the keeper and finish on his weak side from an acute angle to make the final score 5-1.
