Eight teams have formed to go head to head in the annual touch tournament at Aylesbury Rugby Club this summer.

Reigning champions Dragons have returned and look every bit as good as last year winning all of their matches on the opening night last Wednesday.

But the Dragons won’t have things all their own way as CSP matched them in wins and scored only one less along the way. The top try scorers on the night were Ali’s Army scoring a massive 20 tries. In the evening a total of 93 tries were scored as some pace, quick feet and evasive moves fooled defences. The coming weeks will see which teams will rise in the league.

Touch rugby is one of the country’s fastest growing sports and is played throughout the world. It involves no physical contact apart from the touch. All teams at the Aylesbury tournament are a mix of inexperienced, as well as, experienced rugby players of both sexes. Running in parallel to the senior tournament is a junior tournament that is looking to develop the youngsters’ skill base, as well as keeping fitness going over the summer.

The next round of games will kick off at 7.30pm tonight (Wednesday June 26).
