Rugby star Sam Jones says disappointing results will not spoil his memorable call-up to play for the Barbarians against the British and Irish Lions.
The former Aylesbury Grammar School and Aylesbury Rugby Club youngster was selected for the invitational side and took on some of the best players in the world when the Baa -Baa’s lost 59-8 to the Lions on Saturday in Hong Kong.
Negative press has followed the Barbarians since but the Wasps talent insists it was a trip he will ‘never forget’.
Jones, who cancelled his summer holidays to join up with the squad, said: “It was an amazing tour with the Barbarians. It’s been a huge honour despite the results and an experience I won’t forget.
“I really appreciate everyone’s messages of support over the last two weeks. I’m looking forward to a break before hitting pre-season.”
