AYLESBURY Boxing Club has a new home after securing gym facilities in Rabans Lane.

The historic club, working together with Aylesbury Vale Estates property manager James Latham of Akeman Asset Management, announced the news this week after a planning application was accepted.

The new gym at Rabans Lane is a huge boost for boxers in the town as it will enable the club to open more frequently and give pugilists a dedicated gym to call home.

Delighted club coach Chris Carr said the move was imperative as they were outgrowing their Meadowcroft base.

He said: “We are currently bursting at the seams at our current gym at the community centre.

“The new gym means so much to us, it enables us to give a solid foundation to our up and coming boxers and will allow us to give championship level instruction to our current boxers.

“The club would like to thank Aylesbury Vale Estates for the helpful and practical way that they have dealt with us.

“We also would like to acknowledge the help of Aylesbury Vale District Council’s planning department for guidance in the complex area of planning law.”

ABC coach Andy Watkins said: “Aylesbury Boxing Club has been and always will be a club run by the community for the community.

“All of our staff are volunteers and you can just tell by atmosphere and enthusiasm at the club what it means to local people.”

The club will start life at the new home soon with an amended training timetable. Keep an eye on the ABC’s website for new training times to include non-contact nights and taster sessions.
