Aylesbury ladies kicked off the season in some style with a 4-1 home win over newcomers Phoenix and Ranelagh Ladies on Saturday.

It was not all plain sailing for the Ducks, though, as the hosts had an unsettled first five minutes and conceded a scrappy first goal.

But it only served as a wake-up call and Natasha James soon equalised before a well worked goal by Chloe Taylor gave Aylesbury the lead going in at half-time.

The home defence worked well with some great saves from goalkeeper Karen Munson. Aylesbury continued to attack the opposition’s goal and twice hit the post with shots.

The midfield, including first team debutant Elisa Woodford, created some excellent links and fast break away play, causing trouble for the opposition.

Lucy Potts had a strong game on the left wing and completed a great run of play by slotting home goal number three.

Aylesbury maintained the intensity in the second half showing strength and stamina and were rewarded with a second goal by James.

A hugely positive performance from Aylesbury to start the new campaign.

Next up is Bicester away this Saturday.
