Joyous Joel wins to retain men’s singles crown

Thame Tennis Club held its annual finals with a range of matches being played.

In the men’s singles, Joel Morris overcame Nigel King for the second consecutive year to retain his title, this time winning in two straight sets.

Joel secured his second trophy of the day when he paired up with his father Daniel, to beat Lee wright and Ian Catchpole in three sets. On the women’s side of the draw, first-time finalist Roos Bruggink played Maria Lawton in the women’s singles. Maria ran out victorious, also winning the women’s doubles with her partner Jo Kelly against Mary Woods and Lorna See.

Finally in the mixed doubles Mary Lever won for the third year in a row, this time partnering up with Neil Morgan as they beat Marek Wojtan and Anne Terry.

Marek however bounced back a week later to win the Wendy Macgregor Memorial Trophy with his partner Ronan Patrick.
