The finals of Aylesbury Tennis Club’s Closed Championships were brought to a satisfactory conclusion under bright sunny skies on Sunday.

The tournament, sponsored by Radley Windows, produced some exciting tennis and some new winners.

Jarek Nowak took the men’s singles title for the first time with a close win over former champion Adam Goodman.

In the ladies doubles, the mother and daughter pairing of Cathy and Hannah Russell won an exciting tactical battle against Sue Miles and Sally Start.

The closest contest of the day was the junior final where Mo Mahmood just edged out Ethan Jackson in a close championship tiebreak.

Men’s Singles Jarek Novak beat Adam Goodman 7-6, 7-5.

Ladies Doubles Cathy & Hannah Russell beat Sue Miles & Sally Start 6-4, 7-6.

Men’s Doubles Jarek Novak & Paul Prikyl (holders) beat Adam Goodman & Ken Holroyd 1-6, 6-3, 10-7.

Mixed Doubles John Hawley & Katy Eades beat Paul Ruzyczca 6-3, 6-2.

Junior Singles Mo Mahmood (holder) beat Ethan Jackson 7-6, 5-7, 10-8.

Prizes were presented by Club Chairman, Dean Palmer together with Charles Robertson of Radley Windows.
