Aylesbury Boxing Club travelled to Stevenage taking brothers Sam and Jake Fitzgerald for their latest fights.
Sam was due to fight in the preliminaries of the ABA Youth Championships but his opponent failed to show and gave ‘Serious’ Sam a bye into the quarter-finals.
Although disappointed with the cancellation, the quarter-finals will be held at Aylesbury’s home show on Sunday where Sam says he will be ‘raring to go’.
It was left to younger brother and undefeated teenage prospect Jake ‘The Snake’ Fitzgerald to fly the Aylesbury colours.
Fitzgerald squared off against Runnymede Police Boxing Club standout, undefeated Liam Pearce.
Pearce tried to impose his will on Fitzgerald, however he ran into constant power left hands from the Aylesbury fighter who was adopting a southpaw stance.
Fitzgerald unleashed a brutal body attack in the second and chased a stoppage in the final stanza. In the end all four judges agreed and gave Fitzgerald every round to leave coach Sol Khan purring.
He said: “Jake is everything we strive to achieve in our boxers.
“He is exceptionally hardworking, respectful and humble and is fast building a reputation for himself on the circuit.”
Aylesbury Boxing Club is hosting its home show on Sunday at Bessemer Crescent.
Boxing will start from 2pm and tickets will be available on the door Aylesbury fighters.
