Following on from his BB&O Foursomes victory alongside Phil Cuthbert two weeks ago, Luke Richardson fired a magnificent 63 to set a new course record in the Men’s Centenary Salver on Sunday at a warm and balmy Ellesborough Golf Club.

Playing off scratch, Luke reached the turn two under par and then went on a birdie spree that saw him complete the back nine in 30 – six under par for the nine!

A total of 10 pars and eight birdies made up a card that didn’t have more than a four on any hole of this par 71 course.

“The weird thing is that I must have lipped out on at least another three holes,” Luke said.

“It really could have been better.”

Luke’s handicap is of course adjusted as this was a handicap qualifying competition and he will now be playing off +1. A club spokesman congratulated Luke for achieving the new course record.
