Ireland enjoyed their time on the green as they retained the 2012 Four Nations Golf Challenge at Oxfordshire Golf Club.

The boys in green faced Wales in the final and despite the Welsh taking an early lead, a late surge from Jonathan McKnight and Derick Hynes of Loughall won the 15th, 16th and 17th holes to bring the match all square on the 18th.

The Irish secured a late fighting half to secure the win and retain their title.

Ireland captain Ian Dallas said: “We didn’t want for anything and we all felt like Ryder Cup players.

“To have captained my nation to victory again will be a memory forever.”
