CHINNOR’S first team overcame the wind to emerge 18-7 winners over Cheltenham on Saturday.

Their cause was helped when Cheltenham’s Jack Davies was sent to the sin bin on 18 minutes and from the resulting penalty, Cathcart put Chinnor ahead.

The first try came 10 minutes later when Goode powered over the line and Cathcart duly converted to make the score 10-0.

A further penalty before half-time meant that Chinnor were 13-0 up at the break.

With the wind behind them, Cheltenham pushed forward and were able to reduce the deficit through Joe Garner’s converted try.

With the scores within one try, Cheltenham pushed forward looking to take the lead but despite forcing Chinnor towards their own line, they were not able to make another break through.

And to compound their misery, Chinnor went over one more time to put the result beyond doubt.

This time is was Corpe who crossed the line as he proved too fast for the defence.
