Fair result as sides battle out in close clash

THAME Men Bowlers visited Hagbourne B C for the away leg of a new fixture.

The game was played in good spirits with some excellent play by both teams.

Hagbourne took three of the closely fought rinks by two shots, three shots and four shots, which left Thame to score seven on their only winning rink to draw the the match,

This they did and both teams agreed it was a fair result and are looking forward to the rematch at Thame in due course.

Top Rink honours for Thame were Vic Webb, Caspar DuPreez, Maurice Ward and Skipper John Lester, scoring 23 shots to 14.

On Sunday, a mixed team of bowlers from Thame played the first of two legs at Chesham Broadway BC.

Although Thame won on two rinks, the winning margin on Chesham’s only winning rink was enough to take the game by 10 shots.

The final score was Chesham 63-53. Top rink honours for Thame went to Jackie Emberson, Maureen Giles, Casper duPreez and Skip Doreen Penn, who won 23-16.

Thame Ladies were at it again and secured another win against Aston Clinton on Monday.

Top Rink honours went to Val gresty, Jill Brooks and Skip Hazel Westcott who won 21-11.

The final score saw the honours taken by Thame with a 58-41 margin.
