In league scoring, Thame got four points and Watlington two.

This year twelve teams of mixed triples fought their way through six games for 36 ends in scorching sunshine to play in the final eight ends.

New bowler Roland Dadson, David Jones and skip Richard Plested battled with another new bowler Janine Rees, Bill Sandifer and skip Adey Twinn for the prestigious trophy.

At nine shots each on the last end, another tiring end had to be played, with both teams holding shot throughout the game.

The last wood gave a resounding two shot victory to skipper Richard Plested’s team, winning 11 shots to 9.
