SOME of the world’s top Squash players descended on Thame at the weekend to take part in the Raquets Refurb Tournament.
It was put on to mark the opening of the centre’s newly refurbished £30,000 squash courts and proved to be a great success.
In total there were 75 entries of all standards for the tournament, which included Thame professional Will John, world university champion Joel Hinds and world junior champion Anthony Graham.
The tournament was graded from A to E so all standards of player from beginner to international were accommodated.
Raquet’s own professional player, John made it through to the quarter-final stages before eventually losing to the number one seed.
The eventual winner of the A grade tournament was Hinds.
He was victorious after overcaming Birmingham’s Jon Harford 3-1 in the final to take home top prize of £500.
