Chinnor RFC remain in a relegation scrap after they suffered a 47-31 home defeat to London Irish Wild Geese in National League Two South.
Wild Geese raced into the lead with two tries and a penalty, but Harry Betts and Will Millett both dotted down to bring Chinnor to within a point. But converted tries from Smallbone and Browne put Irish into a 27-12 half-time lead.
A third converted score extended the lead and though Millett bagged his second try to reduce the arrears, Geese wrapped up victory with a drop goal and a sixth try.
Chinnor did bag a bonus point when Jamie Townsend crossed, before Oskar Hirskij-Douggave Chinnor further hope with another score, but Scott Tolmie then sauntered to the line for Geese’s final try.
Chinnor, who remain fifth from bottom, host sixth-placed Taunton on Saturday.
