For the second time this season, Thame Town secured a win over close rivals Aston Rowant.
It was achieved in the last over of the match to bring to an end a thrilling match
Losing the toss, Thame were asked to bat and early signs were good as captain Mike Higgs (33) and James Nielsen (23) put on 62 for the first wicket. Then just after these two were dismissed the rain fell and the game was reduced to 53-43 overs.
Thame had to adjust their game plan and with the ball swinging around from Morrick (6-66) batting wasn’t easy and Rowant got back into the game.
It changed again with sensible knocks from Thame youngster Charlie Beardall (24) and Jaydeep Bhatti (26) that steered Thame to a respectable 159 for 8 off their 53 overs.
In reply, Aston Rowant started positively, however, Thame proceeded to reduce the visitors to 90 for 6.
An inspired bowling change saw Pratik Patel (1-37) dismiss Smith with the score on 130-7.
Then a fantastic spell of bowling from Bhatti (7-55) saw Thame reduce Aston to 143 for 9 with one over to go.
Trying to get the number eleven off strike, the visitors attempted a suicide single, which handed Thame victory with three balls remaining.
