Kitty Cross-es the line and roars to victory in the under-11 cross country race

Kitty Shepherd-Cross

Kitty Shepherd-Cross was the pick of the Aylesbury athletes on offer at the 2012 Chiltern League Cross Country race at Wing.

Kitty went off in the lead on a very wet and soggy course until the last portion of the race when a Wycombe athlete overtook her.

But Kitty’s determination and spirit shone through as she kicked again and pulled away to win by 10 seconds.

The U11 boys also ran well with Josh Brown 4th, Ben Lindars 7th and Max Perry 11th putting the team 2nd on the day and finishing as bronze medallists in the league.

Alice Rolfe in the U13 girls lost both of her spikes to the mud but battled through to still finish.

Other junior medallists were the U17 boys’ team who also finished the season in 3rd place.

The adult races turned into a real mud bath.

Declan Hamblin, Tim Jones and Andy Rolt were the first three Vale athletes in putting our Mens’ Vets team 3rd on the day.

For the ladies, there was a great result for Sophie Delderfield finishing in 5th, her best position ever.
