FOLLOWING the news that a £50 million pot of gold has been made available for sports clubs in Thame and beyond, The Thame Gazette is looking to follow applicants on their journey to secure the cash.

It emerged in last week’s edition of the paper that Sport England had put the money aside to help community clubs improve their facilities and offerings.

Now we want to see some clubs from our area benefit from the cash pot.

Volunteers often work tirelessly to raise enough money to develop their clubs. And it is hoped the Inspired Facilities fund will provide the kind of rewards many of the Vale’s clubs deserve.

The Inspired Facility fund is also available to schools and councils and will be used to breathe new life into tired facilities.

Sport England’s chief executive Jenny Price said: “We have worked hard to simplify the application process, with a shorter form and a catalogue of ready-made options to choose from.

“We want people all over the country to be able to look back on 2012 as the year when their local sports facilities got better, as well as the year the Games came to London.”

Applications for the grant open on August 3.
