Hockey: Thame seconds beat Abingdon thirds three-one, at the weekend.
Thame really found their form in this, their second league fixture of the season with key players Steve Potter, Laurence Archer and David Bruggink returning to the squad. Thame’s three goals all came in the first half.
The first, ten minutes in from man of the match David Bruggink gave the home team just the boost they needed.
Archer scored the second from a well worked short corner routine, receiving a return pass from Ben Warwick to flick home.
Bruggink then came back with a third leaving Thame comfortably ahead. Abingdon returned from half-time with fighting spirit but determined defensive play from Ben McKeown and Tom Harris held the scoreline for some 15 minutes before Abingdon spotted a gap, seized the opportunity, and scored the second half’s only goal.
Thame Hockey Club men train every Wednesday night at Thame Leisure Centre at 8.45pm and Juniors on Saturdays at 9am.
