THAME United’s Under 12 Boys team continued their trophy chasing season in fine style by winning the Chinnor six-a-side football tournament on Sunday afternoon.
Having split their strength into two teams, Thame beat an impressive Summertown Boys side 2-0 in the final.
But the real test came in the semis where Thame had to come through a 12-penalty sudden death shootout.
Stand-in keeper Matthew Shaw was the hero of the day saving all his penalties while Stuart Campbell bagged five goals on their way to victory.
The other Thame team lost out 1-0 in the quarters.
Thame Boys will now travel to the 11-a-side cup final this weekend full of confidence following their promotion to Bucks’ top division.
The boys got through to the league cup final by beating Hercules Lions 2-1 in the semis.
Alex McDonald scored both goals in the victory, which brought his personal tally for the season up to 52.
They were aided at the other end by keeper Aidan Gerrard, who took the man of the match award.
It was a hard fought victory for Thame as the Lions sit second in the league.
