Aylesbury United followed up their win over Beaconsfield by coming from 2-0 down to snatch a point against St Ives at the weekend.
The Ducks faced mid table St Ives with confidence but that could have been shattered as the visitors stormed into a two-goal lead inside the first quarter of the match.
Tony Joyce’s men showed great resilience, though, Liam Smyth getting them back in it just before half-time with a fine strike from 25 yards. The entertainment continued in the second half, with a goal for each side in the first five minutes.
And it was veteran forward Paul Edgeworth who was the hero. On as a substitute, Edge got to Steve Hatch’s cross ahead of the goalkeeper to equalise in what was a thoroughly entertaining match described by the official website as a ‘great advert’ for the Calor Southern League.
Next up for the Ducks is a tough looking assignment at top of the table Rugby tomorrow night (Tuesday).
