Thame United have bolstered their squad with the signing of midfielder Greg Williams from Aylesbury United.
Thame, who currently sit in 11th place in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division, announced on Wednesday that they had signed the 36-year-old on a free transfer for his second spell at the club where he started his career.
Thame manager Mark West said: “We are delighted to be able to announce that we have signed Greg. He will be a great asset to the squad.
“He will bring valuable experience to the squad and will really help with the development of the younger players.”
Williams, who has scored 18 goals in 253 appearances for Aylesbury United, joined the Ducks in 2001 after being spotted playing for Thame.
He had made seven appearances in all competitions for the Ducks this season before his move to Meadow View Park.
The veteran earned the moniker ‘The Leader’ after captaining the club in his first spell many years ago and re-joined the Ducks for a second stint on the eve of the 2012/13 season after three seasons with bitter rivals Aylesbury FC.
The Ducks’ official website describes Williams as ‘a workaholic’ who ‘always gives 100% and fights to the death for the team, and, at the age of 36 still has better fitness levels than many of his younger counterparts’.
