AYLESBURY FC edged another point nearer their 40-point survival target with an impressive 3-3 away draw at in-form AFC Hayes on Saturday.

Before the game had anyone offered FC a point then most would have taken it. However the talk on journeys back to Buckinghamshire were thoughts of what might have been.

FC were 1-0 down after eight minutes but a Craig Faulconbridge penalty brought the scores level after quarter of an hour.

The dramatic match saw another penalty, this time to Hayes but it was blazed high over the bar.

After the break FC took the lead through Faulconbridge and they even made it 3-1 when Ryan Blake scored.

But the drama was far from over, defender Ben Stevens saw red for handball on the line, an accusation he vehemently denied and Hayes made no mistake from 12 yards this time. It was Stevens’ second consecutive sending off.

And things were about to get a whole lot worse for FC. Manager Steve Smith and his assistant were sent off and then, six minutes into injury-time, Hayes got an equaliser.

Full reaction and report in this week’s Bucks Herald, out Wednesday.
