THAME United extended their incredible unbeaten run to seven games with a tough 2-2 draw with Ascot on Tuesday.
But, it was a close run thing and Mark West’s side were forced to defend for long periods to get the draw and had to rely on some outstanding goalkeeping.
After an even first 15 minutes, Thame started to press and pounced on an error to go ahead in the 26th minute. A visiting defender made a back pass to his goalkeeper whose poor clearance was intercepted by an alert Aaron Rogers. He fed Alex Stewart who slotted home.
Ascot equalised five minutes later when a long ball split Thame’s defence and the score remained 1-1 until half-time.
The visitors pressed hard after the restart and took the lead on 53 minutes but Thame countered and Lewis Cordice equalised a few minutes after coming on. The game ebbed and flowed in the final minutes but both teams will be happy with a draw.
Thame take on Abingdon next Tuesday at home.
