Aylesbury United’s dream of reaching a second successive Berks & Bucks Senior Cup final was wrecked by Chesham United as the Ducks went down 3-1 in the last four.
Joey Acheampong’s bundled last minute goal was scant consolation for the Ducks who did beat Chesham on penalties in the Red Insure Cup in November.
But their former landlords were too strong this time around for a depleted Aylesbury side suffering from injuries and suspensions.
After four previous postponements of the fixture, both teams struggled to settle on a sodden Bell Close pitch during an uneventful first half.
Aylesbury threatened after the break but Tashan Dwyer’s smart finish and then two more goals in just two minutes from the Generals killed the game.
Dwyer added his second and Bobby Devyne headed home which meant the Ducks were unable to build on Tuesday night’s hard-fought win over Chalfont St Peter.
The Ducks are back in action tomorrow as they host Uxbridge (3pm KO).
