The Bucks Herald’s campaign to Make Football More Affordable has helped Aylesbury team Hale Leys United after it prompted a local company to lend the club its support.
Businessman Andy Garrad, of A.G.C Scaffolding and Demolition, approached the club after reading Herald articles on the battle to save make grassroots football more affordable.
A spokesman said: “I wish more local companies would support their local teams. It’s amazing how a small amount of money can go a long way to changing local players’ futures , this is across the board be it rugby, golf or cricket , you don’t realise the running costs of football especially at a higher tier of competition so I am happy to support my local team Hale Leys. After meeting with John Watson (Hale Leys coordinator) I was pleased to see how professional the club was run and also amazed at how much it costs to operate an South Midlands side. The club provides a service to Aylesbury and the public by delivering exciting football at no charge. They only have homegrown Aylesbury talent and have achieved so much in such a short time , I am proud my business could be a part of the Hale Leys success story.”
A.G.C. will support the club by help finance running costs such as pitch hire.
