Ellen White and the England Women’s team kick off their 2013 European Championship campaign against Spain in Sweden on Friday night.
Aylesbury girl White scored as the Lionesses slipped to a 4-1 warm-up friendly defeat to host nation Sweden in the build-up.
But the former Grange School pupil, who lives in Fairford Leys, is not fazed by the setback and says she is excited by the start of the group games.
“We are really looking forward to our first game against Spain,” she said.
“It is all starting to become more real now after watching Sweden vs Denmark last night (Wednesday) in the fan zone in Linkoping town square.
“I am extremely proud to be part of this squad in these Euro finals and can’t wait for it all to start for us tomorrow.”
All the Lionesses matches will be screened live on BBC.
The Spain match is live on BBCThree while following group games against Russia (July 15) and France (July 18) are on BBC Two and Three respectively. Arsenal Ladies striker White and the Lionesses are hoping to turn silver into gold at Euro 2013.
Four years ago, her team reached the Women’s European Championship final, only to be thrashed 6-2 by seven-time winners Germany, who will be hot favourites considering they are in the hunt for a sixth consecutive Euro title.
