Children at Bearbrook School enjoyed a visit from Premier League footballer Matt Taylor when he came to open the new school hall and two Year 6 classrooms last week.

Teacher Susan Keen, who is the West Ham United winger’s aunt, said she managed to twist her nephew’s arm into paying the school a visit.

She said: “All of the children were really excited. I was surprised there was quite a few West Ham supporters even though we’re in Aylesbury. The children were all talking about it afterwards.”

Sporting a handlebar moustache as part of charity campaign Movember, former Portsmouth and Luton player Taylor took a tour of the school, held an assembly and Q&A session and signed autographs for the children and a West Ham shirt for the school.
