Thame United finished their pre-season with a 5-0 defeat to conference side Hayes and Yeading on Tuesday night.

It was a disappointing result for Thame, but manager Mark West was pleased with the commitment of his players and believes they have learnt valuable lessons against a full strength Conference side.

He said: “They sent a full team out and we lost 5-0 but the lads learnt a lot from it, they were a very good side, moved the ball really well and are four or five leagues above us.

“But we competed really well and it will help us come the start of the season.”
