League One side Stevenage will visit Tring Athletic in the Herts Senior Challenge Cup second round after their 3-1 win over Ware.
And that is not the only big game on the club’s fixture list, with an FA Vase second round proper game at home to Eynesbury Rovers this Saturday.
At Ware’s Wodson Park Stadium, Tring put on a sparkling performance against higher league opposition to earn their mouth watering tie in the next round at home to Graham Westley’s Stevenage.
Ware, of the Ryman League Division One North, were broken five minutes before the break when Athletic opened the scoring through Trevor Gibbs.
Then Tring turned on the style and should have buried their hosts.
Graham Hall eventually got the second from the penalty spot after a handball. Ware got themselves back into it with a header.
But the thought of extra-time spurred Athletic on to settle the tie once and for all when Martin Skinner rifled a shot past the keeper from the edge of the area.
An excellent performance and fully deserved win.
