Thame Boys U14s’ win at the recent Wendover Tournament completed a perfect summer to make it five wins from five competitions.

Having won the Hastings, Flackwell Heath, Marlow and Thame tournaments, the Boys went into their last competition of the summer, at Wendover, needing a win to complete a Grand Slam.

John Howlett, team manager, said it was a fantastic achievement.

“Apart from Hastings, which was an 11-a-side competition, we have entered two teams in every tournament.

“Both teams have reached the semi-finals in every tournament, and in one final we played against each other.”

David Dack, speaking on behalf of Thame Boys, added: “Being a community club we take great pride in the fact that these boys all live or go to school in Thame.

“This is a phenomenal achievement. Every age group we have hopes to win a tournament. These boys won every tournament they entered!”

Thame’s record stands at 53 games, won 46, drew two, lost five, scored 82 goals and conceding only 12.
