Rob Hall played all 120 minutes as England were beaten 2-1 by Greece after extra time in Thursday afternoon’s Euro Under 19 Championships semi-final in Estonia.
The Aylesbury footballer was hoping to add another European Championship to his trophy cabinet after winning the under 17 version of the competition in 2010.
He got the nod to start for Noel Blake’s side in Tallinn, but despite a number of efforts at goal, could not make the breakthrough to help the Young Lions through to a final against either France or Spain.
Greece took the lead in the 38th minute through Bougaidis before Arsenal youngster Benik Afobe equalised after half-time (56).
Both sides had chances to clinch it but the match ended 1-1 and extra-time was needed.
The sides could not be seperated after a furthr 15 minutes of play and Hall remained on the pitch as England pressed for a winner.
The former Grange pupil’s dreams were shattered three minutes into the second period of extra-time, though, when Greece’s Lykogiannis pounced to score what turned out to be the all-important goal.
