An Aylesbury FC groundforce gang has been hard at work to get the club’s Haywood Way base ready for what promises to be an exciting new season.
The ground has been a hive of activity recently with seeding, feeding, weeding and topsoiling just some of the tasks carried out.
The pitch is starting to take shape while the club’s new sponsors M&W have been on site everyday staining new perimeter posts and preparing the surrounding area for new fencing.
The ground has been given a fresh lick of paint namely at the pay kiosks and along the pathway to the teabar while some hardy souls were up at 5.30am one morning to paint the main stand.
As part of the regeneration the club also has a new shop. Painted in the unmistakable FC colours, it will be positioned just inside the turnstiles.
The shop is currently undergoing a major facelift and re-fit but should be open for the start of the new season. The club in conjunction with M&W are currently ordering stock which will include mugs, pens, pin badges, scarves, hats, old programmes, polo shirt, t-shirts and replica kit.
FC are also hoping, pending talks with their new kit supplier, to be able to offer internet shopping on playing kit.
While plenty has been done a club spokesman said: “There is still lots of work to do. There will be a working party on Saturday from 9am until 3pm so please come down and help us out.”
Meanwhile, three more friendlies have been added to the Moles’ pre-season schedule including trips to Thame United (July 23), Southern Premier Arlesey Town (July 27) and a home game against Blue Square South side Maidenhead United (August 6).
