The Mandeville Sports Academy in Aylesbury is branching out to offer a range of different pathways for passionate students.
The Academy, whose most famous graduate is Blackpool and England winger Matty Phillips, has been running for seven years.
Former Academy work experience pupil Phillips went back to where it all started for a question and answer session with current students recently (pictured). But, while the Academy started out with football at its heart, it has now expanded to include a Personal Training Academy based at Nuffield Health and Fitness Centre, a Golf Academy based at Ellesborough Golf Club and from September a Rugby Union Academy in association with London Wasps and Aylesbury Rugby Club not to mention a Girls Football Academy which is also in the pipeline.
The Aim of the Sports Academy is to give students the opportunity to study specific qualifications in their chosen field with a view to staying for a third year and earning while they work.
Academy spokesman Ben Williams said: “Students on our courses get to train daily as players in their chosen sport and access a detailed games programme so that they can all put the training into practice.”
The Academy currently has 55 students which is expected to rise to more than 90 in September.
