Aylesbury FC boss Craig Faulconbridge says he is excited by what he has seen from his side so far in pre-season despite a comprehensive 2-0 friendly defeat to Bedford last time out.
The pass and move football that is boss Faulconbridge’s mantra gave way to a more cautious approach against a team that plays a division higher than last Saturday’s hosts.
But the player/boss says he has been more than happy with the progression of his players and confirmed he is on the verge of signing an experienced defender.
“We’ve been equal to, if not better than, teams higher than us – for 90 minutes against Maidenhead and 60 against Hemel,” he said.
“In the Bedford game, it was something we needed. We needed to see what can happen in a game when things don’t go the way we want them to.
“We’re all pulling in the same direction and we still have three weeks to go and I’m excited by what I’ve seen, our ball retention has been excellent at times,” he added.
