Football bad boy Joey Barton looks unlikely to play for a Queens Park Rangers XI against Aylesbury United next Tuesday after he joined League Two Fleetwood for pre-season training.
The controversial midfielder was hit with a 12-game ban by the FA for his conduct in QPR’s final game of last season at Man City. He could have been included in the squad to play at Bell Close in United’s glamour warm-up match after being left out of QPR’s tour to Asia.
But, he has now joined minnows Fleetwood for their own tour of Scotland instead and will not feature against the Ducks.
Meanwhile, United were left disappointed when their game against Wellingborough was cancelled on Saturday because their opponents had eight players injured and were unable to field a team.
Tony Joyce’s side were due to travel to Winslow United last night (Tuesday), then AFC Kempston Rovers Saturday before QPR visit on Tuesday.
