A MAGNIFICENT first half display saw Ducks pick up a valuable home win on Wednesday night – but they had to hold on for a result.

Two goals from Stacey Field and a strike by Joey Acheampong saw Ducks seemingly comfortable at half-time with a 3-0 lead against Berkhamsted.

But the visitors netted twice early in the second half to set up a nail-biting finish to the game.

A fine strike by Acheampong put Tony Joyce’s men ahead in the 11th minute after good work by Daniel Jones.

Field doubled the lead on 26 minutes after a fine team move.

He fired into an empty net after his first shot was saved by the keeper’s legs.

And shortly before the whistle, Field struck again after being put through on goal by Warren Garcia.

But eight minutes into the second half, Berkhamsted pulled a goal back to make it 3-1.

And a strike just after the hour mark saw the visitors claw back to 3-2, having previously been all but dead and buried.

Berkhamsted pushed forward, but Ducks held on for a win.
