Aylesbury United wilted in the heat but managed to claim a good point when they drew 1-1 on the hottest day of the year at Hillingdon Borough on Saturday afternoon.
Tony Joyce’s men got off to a flying start when Steve Hatch’s cross was turned into his own net by Karl Bull just six minutes in.
But the remainder of the half belonged to the home side, and Aylesbury had Jack Sillitoe to thank for a number of impressive saves keeping his side ahead at the break.
The second half saw more of the same as the home side adapted better to the scorching heat.
The Hillingdon pressure finally told late on after a handball gifted the hosts a penalty.
