In line with The Herald’s campaign to Make Football More Affordable, a website enabling people to get kitted out at knock down prices has been set up by some footy mad entrepreneurs.

Russ Whiting, Martin Craig and Greg Thomas of Thame have set up Footybay which allows people to sell and buy football kit, boots, equipment and memorabilia. All people need to do is make one phone call and the item is theirs.

Mr Whiting said he got the idea after seeing the prices of boots in shops. He said: “The feedback has been great so far and we have had all sorts of items on the site.

“The most bizarre are a pair of Nike boots which have been turned into art by a Japanese artist (pictured). They are on sale for £650 but we have something for every budget. We were especially amused to see an Arsenal fan put his brand new home shirt for sale after the first weekend’s result.”
