Aylesbury United manager Tony Joyce says their disqualification from the Berks and Bucks Senior Trophy is a farce.

The boss slammed the handling of the competition and says the local FA should have tackled the situation more sensibly.

“It’s all a bit of a farce,” Joyce said.

“He’s (Daniel Jones) been a player with us almost all season.

“We have been given a trophy we didn’t even win (and then had to give it back). It’s a bit disappointing.”

Joyce and his side made a concerted effort to improve their performances in cup competitions at the beginning of the season after poor runs in the previous campaign.

But he is upset the dedication of players and teams involved has not been considered by the decision-makers.

“We put a lot of effort into it. I don’t believe anyone would have done it on purpose, not at this level. They have all been mistakes.

“I would have rather kept the semi-finalists in it. I would have preferred if they were given a slap on the wrist and kept them in it and told don’t do it again.

“I don’t think when they make these decisions they think about the time and effort that goes in.”
