Aylesbury United should be boosted by the return to fitness of key man Ben Baines for today’s (Saturday) home game against Potters Bar Town.
Weather permitting the game at Bell Close pits 11th placed United against Potters Bar Town who are down in 17th, although they are just five points behind Tony Joyce’s men.
The 3pm kick-off should be playable given the easing of the downpours which have seen six of the club’s last seven scheduled matches shelved.
One positive with the extended break for Joyce is recuperation time for his injured players.
He said: “The longer break between games does at least help with injured players. Ben Baines should be fit to return and Richard Armstrong may also be able to finally serve his one-match suspension.
“It means we can fit in extra training sessions and with away games it saves everyone time and money.
“The Rugby match (scheduled for last Saturday) was called off three and a half hours before kick-off, and a few of the players had started to travel there which is not ideal but that’s the way it is.”
The Ducks could go 10th, above St Ives, with a win.
