AYLESBURY UNITED at ST IVES PREVIEW: ‘Win will help cement top half place’

Tony Joyce says his Aylesbury United side can ‘really cement their place in the top half’ of the table with victory over St Ives tonight (Tuesday).

The Ducks started 2014 with a 0-0 draw against Potters Bar Town on Saturday. United had Lee Grace sent off in that game and Joyce is hoping a fully fit squad will be able to produce the goals needed to beat a fellow midtable team.

Speaking ahead of the game, which is set to go ahead after a midday pitch inspection ruled the surface was playable following overnight rain, Joyce said: “I am hoping that we will have a fully fit squad for that game, now that we have Richard Armstrong back from suspension.

“The one disappointment from the weekend was that we couldn’t score, so hopefully we can put that right and get a few goals.

“We are playing the team (St Ives) who are just below us in the table so if we get three points we can really cement our place in the top half.”
