Aylesbury United go into today’s Bucks derby at Marlow full of confidence after holding league leaders Rugby to a draw in midweek but boss Tony Joyce says his side are in for a stern physical examination.
The 1-1 draw on Tuesday night followed a 3-3 draw with St Ives last Saturday. The draw at Rugby was a welcome boost considering Joyce had rested players specifically for today’s trip to Marlow.
Ahead of the trip to the Alfred Davis Memorial Stadium (kick-off 3pm), Joyce acknowledged that the Blues were a very physical side.
He said: “I am hoping to keep some of the players fresh for the Marlow game.
“They are always a tough side to face and the players will need to be physically ready for the challenge.”
On the draw with St Ives, boss Tony Joyce said: “It was another very entertaining game for the neutral and once again we can take both negative and positive things from this match.
“The positive was that every time we went behind we kept coming back.
“The negative is that we did give them a two-goal start, however their goals were of good quality. We played well and on another day we could easily have come away with the win.”
