FC will hope to get back on track when they entertain Chertsey Town at Haywood Way – weather permitting – today (Saturday).
FC manager Steve Bateman endured a miserable return to his old club Slough on Tuesday night as the Moles were beaten 2-0 in their first action since December 28.
Slough exposed the ring rustiness in FC’s display and Bateman admits the loss of games due to the weather – today’s game will be in doubt should there be, as predicted, more downpours this weekend – is hitting the club hard.
He said: “I can’t believe how many games we have lost due to the weather.
“It just feels never-ending and it has affected us.
“Everytime we think we might be able to play it seems to rain again and then we can’t.”
Bateman added it ‘was a shame’ the match against rivals Aylesbury United had been re-arranged for Tuesday April 1, due to the Ducks’ cup commitments.
Going into the game, Chertsey are one of only three clubs below FC in the 22-team Calor Southern League Division One Central table.
