The big Aylesbury derby between United and FC could be postponed yet again if the Ducks win through to the next round of the Red Insure Cup.
The draw for the quarter-final stages of the competition was made at the weekend and should the Ducks beat Royston Town, they will travel to moneybags St Neots Town on February 11.
That was the night Tony Joyce’s men were due to lock horns with their fierce rivals in the first ever competitive game between the two sides in Aylesbury.
The derby at Haywood Way was due to be played on Boxing Day but was moved after the pitch was flooded. Managers of both clubs, as well as fans, have been critical of Calor League bosses for the scheduling of matches, particularly the return derby fixture.
The clubs hope to attract a bumper crowd of at least 6-700 fans for the Aylesbury match.
But managers Joyce and Steve Bateman predicted that changing it to a cold Tuesday night – as league bosses did when rearranging the original fixture – could kill the attendance and chance to generate vital revenue.
