Aylesbury FC’s proposed match at Leighton Town tonight (Tuesday) is the latest to fall victim to the wet weather after it was postponed earlier this afternoon.
The cancellation will do little to improve the mood of Aylesbury FC boss Steve Bateman who said he was ‘surprised’ at the postponement of last Saturday’s Calor League game at home to Potters Bar Town.
The match was called off five hours before kick-off despite the best efforts of a working party on Friday night to make the Haywood Way pitch playable.
Bateman said: “I was surprised when I heard the game was not going to be able to go ahead.
“It was because there was an area of the pitch by the dugouts which was still dangerous.
“A youth game was played on the pitch on Sunday so if we had been given another 24 hours we could have got the game on.”
