ENGLAND womens cricket star and captain Charlotte Edwards has been in the Vale this week as part of the Bucks Cricket Board’s drive to develop countywide cricket.
The national team skipper was at Waddesdon CofE School last night (Tuesday) doing a nets session with Kimble Cricket Club.
Edwards has recently returned from leading the team in their victorious 4-0 whitewash tour of New Zealand and was also crowned the ICC’s Women’s Cricketer of the Year in 2008.
The nets session at Waddesdon was just one of several stops at schools across Buckinghamshire as well as hosting workshops and training camps for the County Junior Squads.
Speaking about the visit of the Ashes and double World Cup-winning captain, Cliff Pocock, chairman of Buckinghamshire Cricket Board, said: “It is a great opportunity for her to visit schools where clubs are developing youth sections to hopefully infuse and inspire those youngsters to participate in cricket and join that club.”
