Dinton remain top of the Home Counties Premier Division Two West despite falling just two runs short of local rivals Aston Rowant in their top of the table draw on Saturday.

In a fantastically close match, Dinton ended on 250-7, two short or Rowant’s 252.

The result means Dinton remain top by seven points with second-placed Rowant closing the gap slightly. It also sets Dinton up for a mouthwatering local derby against feirce rivals Thame Town at the weekend.

Ahmad kept it tight finishing with figures of 3-64 from 21 overs as Rowant made 252-5.

Skipper Mike Sutliff was quickly into his stride eventually making a fine 83. Massey and Rob King (71) consolidated the innings. Ahmad came in and played positively but a mix-up between the pair saw him run out and Dinton could not get past 252.
