Dinton put some daylight between themselves and the chasing pack when they beat visitors Shipton-under-Wychwood in one of the only games to survive the wet weekend weather.
With Cove having drawn level on points with Dinton in recent weeks, Mike Sutliff’s side knew victory was vital to keep alive their Division Two West title ambitions.
And that is exactly what they did with a 97-run victory after being inserted to bat first when Shipton had won the toss.
A big pat on the back goes to groundsmen Ali and Paul who got the game on at all, given that the majority of matches across the region were cancelled.
Lee Marland (64) and Mike Sutliff (56) starred in the batting for Dinton and some great bowling from spin kings Alistair Gibbins and Shakil Ahmed rolled Shipton over for 139.
However, good steady bowlng from Shipton had ensured Dinton were restricted to 236-9 when an even bigger score looked likely at one stage.
There was also another faultless display from Jim the Dinton scorer – some things do not change.
